Heartworms are every dog owners or should be concern. Heartworms can be contracted without you ever knowing it. It is typically spread through mosquito bites to your dog that have bitten an infected animal. Even if you could keep your dog inside all the time which is not healthy for your dog mosquitos can get into your home as you come and go through to outside. It takes about 6 months for the heartworms to mature to adult worms. In the past the treatments were almost as bad as the worms and especially if the dog had an advanced case of heartworms. The best treatment is a continuous preventative program. We will not recommend a program but please see your vet and have your dog put on a preventative regiment.
adulticide is what is used to kill adult heartworms, on a side note cats can’t be treated or don’t respond well to treatment.
